Helping people spark back into life!

At Spark, we believe that everyone deserves connection, comfort, and a warm meal – no matter their circumstances. Our Pay It Forward campaign makes that possible. With a monthly donation of £6.50, you can gift someone in our community a drink, toastie, and slice of cake, offering them not just food, but kindness and inclusion too.
Every contribution helps us keep Spark a welcoming space where people can come together, share stories, and feel seen and supported. The rising cost of living means more people than ever rely on our pay-what-you-can-afford scheme, and your support ensures we can continue to reach those who need it most.
By paying it forward, you’re helping to sustain a place that’s become a lifeline for many in Portsmouth – a place where no one has to face tough times alone.
SPARK Community Space is a registered charity launched in October 2020 by Becki Simmons in Southsea, Portsmouth.
The charity aims to help people who don’t feel like they fit in, to access the support and services they need, so they can ‘Spark’ back into life.

At SPARK, we welcome anyone who feels pushed aside or overlooked by society, whether that’s because of illness, disability, redundancy, lack of qualifications or any other reason.
We meet people, wherever they are in life, without judgement, providing a space for people to share a cup of tea and a cake, gain skills and purpose through volunteering, and access training towards regaining confidence and a sense of belonging in society.
SPARK operates on a pay-what-you-can-afford basis along with donations.
Through Portsmouth FC’s equality, diversity, and inclusion program, the club has joined forces with Spark to raise awareness about isolation and bring a comforting community presence back into the lives of Portsmouth residents.
This vision has given birth to the Spark Cup initiative, a project that unites Portsmouth FC, Spark Community Space, and the Queens Hotel, all sharing a commitment to revitalising community spirit.
